Why Chappapeela weekends need a food plan
Chappapeela Sports Park is one of Hammond’s biggest gathering places. The official park page lists 115 acres, 15 soccer fields, 12 baseball and softball fields, two regulation football fields, indoor basketball and volleyball courts, playgrounds, a splash pad and a walking trail. That means one weekend can put a lot of hungry athletes and families in the same place at the same time.
Tournament brackets, weather, extra innings and field assignments can shift quickly. Restaurant wait times also change. The easiest move is to decide before the last game whether your group is dining in, picking up individual orders or arranging one large catering order.
Check current park information with Chappapeela Sports Park. Our Mom’s is an independent Hammond restaurant and is not presented as an official partner of Chappapeela Sports Park or H.A.R.D. #1.
Three ways to feed players, coaches and families
1. Bring the group to Our Mom’s
A sit-down meal works when everyone is ready to cool off, compare game stories and eat together. Our Hammond menu includes shareable appetizers, hand-pressed burgers, po’boys, sandwiches, salads, plates, sides, kids’ choices and desserts.
We do not take traditional reservations. For a large team or family group, call (985) 662-5038 before you leave the park. We will do our best to accommodate your party based on its size and the restaurant’s current wait.
Our Mom’s Hammond is open Sunday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Downtown events, holidays, tournament traffic and other large parties can affect the pace.
2. Order ahead for Hammond pickup
Pickup can be the simplest option between games, after a late finish or when different families are heading in different directions. Use the Hammond online-ordering page to see the current menu, availability and pickup timing.
Make sure the ordering page says Our Mom’s Restaurant & Bar — Hammond, 205 East Thomas before checking out. For a very large order, call us first so the kitchen can confirm timing.

3. Cater the team meal
Our Hammond kitchen accepts catering requests for sports teams, game-day gatherings, school and university groups and other large meals. Catering choices include appetizers, salads, sandwich trays, a burger bar, entrées, soups and desserts, with available pickup or delivery options confirmed for each order.
Use the catering request to tell us your date, group size, preferred timing and any menu questions. Our team will confirm menu choices, quantities and current pickup or delivery availability. Because Chappapeela’s official rules restrict outside food and drinks without prior permission, confirm your event’s rules and approved meal location directly with the park before planning food delivery onto park property.

What should a travel team order?
Shareable starters: Boudin egg rolls, fried pickles, wings, chicken fingers and Your Mom’s Cheese Fries give the table something to share.
Burgers and sandwiches: Our burgers use fresh, never-frozen beef, hand-pressed with zero fillers and seasoned with our homemade Cajun-Creole blend.
Lighter choices: Salads and other menu choices can work for guests who do not want a burger after the game.
Kids’ meals: Younger siblings and players have their own menu choices, and high chairs are available.
Catering trays and group meals: Appetizers, sandwich trays, a burger bar, entrées, soups and desserts can be planned for larger groups.
Menu items and availability can change. If someone has a food allergy, call (985) 662-5038 before ordering so our Hammond team can discuss ingredients and preparation. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten-friendly choices may be available, but gluten-friendly does not mean allergen-free.
A simple postgame plan for coaches and team parents
Choose dine-in, pickup or catering before the final game. A single decision keeps the group from splitting into a dozen text threads.
Get a realistic head count. Include coaches, players, parents and siblings—not just the roster.
Call ahead for a large dine-in party. We cannot guarantee a specific table or time, but a call helps us explain the current wait and what is workable.
Place large pickup or catering orders early. Give the kitchen enough time to confirm quantities and timing.
Use live directions and current schedules. Traffic, tournament brackets, weather and restaurant volume change throughout the day.
Confirm park rules before bringing food onto park property. Chappapeela’s current rules say outside food or drink requires prior permission.
